Meet Dr. Erez Nosrati

dr erez nosratiDr. Erez Nosrati is a specialist in Periodontics and Oral Implantology with a subspecialty in Oral Pathology and over 15 years of experience in dentistry. Dr. Erez is Board Certified by the American Board of Periodontology in Periodontology and dental implant surgery, and a voting member of The American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Nosrati is also a member of the prestigious International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons (ISPPS). Apart from private practice, Dr. Erez also serves as a faculty member at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, Advanced Specialty Education Program in Periodontics.

Prior to moving to La Jolla, Dr. Erez resided in Chicago where he worked both in private practice and as a clinical faculty member at Midwestern University, College of Dental Medicine, where he founded the division of periodontics. Dr. Erez completed his residency at Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, IN, where he was the chief resident and class president. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Hebrew University, Hadassah School of Dental Medicine, and his Master of Science in Cardiac Physiology from Hadassah School of Medicine in Jerusalem.

Dr. Erez has served as an associate researcher and consultant to several biotech companies for research involving diabetes, cancer, cardiac diseases and more. Having an extensive medical and research background, Dr. Erez, in cooperation with Riley Children’s Hospital and Indiana University School of Dentistry and Medicine, conducted advanced research regarding the connection between heart diseases and periodontal health in children with congenital cardiac diseases. The results of that research gave him a Master’s of Science in Dentistry degree and were presented at the AAP meeting in 2012 in Los Angeles and published in the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Erez is very passionate about education and is also a part of the Straumann Speaker Consortium and has lectured nationally and internationally on Periodontology, Implantology, Cardiac Physiology, and the Cardio-Systemic connection.

Dr. Erez is proficient in all aspects of oral implantology and surgical and non-surgical periodontics along with providing treatment with IV sedation. Dr. Erez is proud to perform the highest quality treatment that will feel great and look great. Procedures are preformed using microsurgical techniques with surgical microscope magnification, taking care to preserve as much of your natural bone and gums as possible and leaving you with virtually no signs of surgery. He uses custom 3D generated guiding stents to place your implants in order achieve predictable perfection in placement of your implant in relation to your bone, as well as the subsequent placement of the final crown/bridge/denture. A perfectly placed implant leads to a healthy restoration that will last a lifetime, and by working together with your dentist, they are able to plan your treatment in detail from the surgical and restorative aspects and thus give you the results you are looking for.

In addition, Dr. Erez also specializes in treating implant related complications, including removal, replacement, and bone regeneration.

For those patients who suffer from gum disease, Dr. Erez is able to evaluate the extent of the condition and recommend proper home care and treatment. Untreated gum disease can lead to tooth loss, but by tracking your gum and bone levels with each visit to our hygienist, Dr. Erez is able to intervene if a problem is detected and recommend treatment to stop the progression that can lead to additional bone loss and subsequent tooth loss. Bone loss also often leads to gum recession which can lead to sensitivity and decay at the root surfaces. Dr. Erez can discuss various options to replace the gum tissue that has been lost and recommend the treatment that is right for you to protect the teeth from further damage and also restore the youthful appearance of your smile.

Dr. Erez’s extensive medical background allows him to ensure you are always safe during any surgery. He will study your health history closely and work with your physician if needed to make any modifications to your medications and timing of treatment.

In his free time, Dr. Erez loves spending time with hid wife Irene and his two kids, Ben and Naomi, doing outdoors activities, traveling, and discovering new places. Dr. Erez enjoys biking, going to the gym, and he is an avid basketball player and a black belt in Karate. Dr. Erez is happy to serve you in both Hebrew and Farsi as well!
